SIPM-OOFDM having an extra subcarrier index-power information-bearing dimension is, for the first time, proposed and investigated, which, compared to conventional OOFDM, offers considerable signal transmission capacity improvement without degrading system power budget and dispersion/nonlinearity tolerances.
We investigate several existing impairments in an orthogonal frequency-division-multiplexed radio-over-fiber (OFDM-ROF) system delivering a 60 GHz optical millimeter wave with double optical sidebands and a suppressed central carrier. It is found through theoretical analysis and numerical simulation that intersubcarrier interference and frequency-selective fading are the dominant factors degrading...
We propose a new InP-based comb generator for optical OFDM transmission. The device integrates a Mach-Zehnder modulator inside an amplified ring. We demonstrate a 6-line frequency comb which is tunable in wavelength and spacing.
The major attraction of the next generation wireless systems such as the third generation partnership project (3GPP) Long Term Evolution (LTE) is the availability of high data-rate video services at high user velocities. However, it is quite a challenge to provide the required level of quality of service (QoS) and maintain the planned system performance due to limited radio resources, unreliable radio...
We have demonstrated optical OFDM signal generation by an optical phase modulator and applied it in a 40 GHz ROF symmetric system. The power penalty for the downlink data after transmission over 50 km SMF is smaller than 0.5 dB; while for the up-link data, the power penalty can be neglected.
We demonstrated a novel architecture for seamless integration ROF with OFDM-WDM-PON based on an integrated external modulator. The 10 Gbit/s wired signal, 2.5 Gbit/s wireless signal and upstream signal has been transmitted over 20 km SMF successfully.
