We use the beam-deflection method to measure nondegenerate nonlinear refractive indices of ZnO and ZnSe and show, in agreement with theory, extremely nondegenerate nonlinear refraction is significantly larger than in the degenerate or near-degenerate case.
Using a dual-arm Z-scan to increase the signal-to-noise, we measure the dispersion of the electronic third-order nonlinearity of symmetric polymethines and squaraines and find good agreement with the essential-state model including CS2.
We report two-photon absorption spectra and nonlinear refraction dispersion of a new series of quinolinium heptamethine cyanine dyes measured using our dual-arm Z-scan and fit of spectra and dispersion with an essential-state model.
We observe spectral enhancement of femtosecond supercontinua in krypton gas using weak, nJ to μJ, seed pulses with the order of ∼mJ pump pulses resulting in > 3× total energy enhancement and spectral broadening.
