Two different locations of Erbium Doped Fiber (EDF) in dual ring configuration to generate double frequency shifted of multiwavelength Brillouin Erbium fiber laser (BEFL) have been investigated. The experimental results show that the location of EDF has important roles to determine the number of output Stoke signals and tuning range. Beside the Erbium gain, the Brillouin gain also contributes to the...
By using different fiber types as gain medium such as 500 m HNLF, 215 cm Bi-EDF, 7.2 km DCF, 11 km DCF, 18.2 km DCF, as well as the composition of Bi-EDF with 11 km DCF and finally the composition of Bi-EDF with the 18.2 km DCF, Raman gain was characterized and measured by the same set up as proposed in our study. The results revealed that the composition of Bi-EDF with the 18.2 km DCF provided the...
A compact multiwavelength Brillouin fiber laser (BFL) with 51 stable double Brillouin frequency shift channels is demonstrated at room temperature. It uses a ring cavity with a 3-dB coupler for separation of odd-ordered and even-ordered Brillouin Stokes (BS) channels using a highly nonlinear fiber (HNLF) as the Brillouin gain medium. Compared with the use of a standard single-mode fiber, the HNLF-based...
PMD compensator combined with optical Amplifier has been developed for 40G systems. In the experimental set up, 40Gbps data goes into a spool of fiber of 400km before going into the developed PMD compensator combined with optical amplifier. The optical amplifier is useful to prevent signal degradation due to optical loss contributed by the fiber attenuation and other optical elements. The performance...
This article discusses the optical-SNR variation of Stokes lines in BRFL. This variation is partly attributed to the cavity modes interaction through intraline-FWM residing the same spectralwidth. The worst OSNR is obtained at 650mW RPP and 1555nm BPW. The improvement is obtained for the RPP beyond 650mW.
