We present results from magnetised bow shock experiments performed on the Magpie (∼1 MA, 250 ns) pulsed-power facility. Bow shocks are formed around cylindrical conducting obstacles (diameter ∼0.5 mm) positioned in a supersonic, super-Alfenic, plasma flow (MS > 3, MA > 2.5, Vflow ∼70 km/s). This radially diverging flow is produced by an exploding wire array z-pinch, and carries an embedded azimuthal...
The following contribution presents a profile reconstruction method using amplitude-only information. The idea is to combine a phase retrieval algorithm together with an equivalent currents-based profile reconstruction method. The proposed method is initially conceived to work with planar NF acquisition setups, presenting an application example based on simulated data.
A novel approach for profile reconstruction using a Sources Reconstruction Method is presented. The idea is the calculation of the fields radiated by the reconstructed equivalent currents inside the currents domain. Profile reconstruction accuracy is improved by combining multiple incidences and frequencies. The main advantage with respect to inverse source-based techniques is the computational cost...
One of the main issues regarding a gaseous detector is the gas flow inside the detector itself. A bad gas flow can affect irreversibly the chamber performance. On the other hand optimizing gas circulation inside the detector could allow a safe and reliable operation even with less gas consumption while at the same time maintaining high performance. Simulations and comparison between several different...
An extension of the sources reconstruction method (SRM) for handling with arbitrary-geometry field acquisition domains is presented. The amount of information that is needed to retrieve the original sources (field-sampling requirements, number of field components to be considered) is discussed as well as the influence of the noise in the measurements and the resolution limitations. The discussion...
