8.8 dB improvement in figure of merit for SBS limited highly nonlinear fibres is reported by using a combination of Al-doping and straining of the fibre.
We report on the first demonstration of error-free time-division add-drop multiplexing at 320 Gb/s. The add- and drop-operations are performed simultaneously in a non-linear optical loop mirror with only 100 m of highly non-linear fibre.
We have measured the non-linear enhancement factor Re, due to Raman amplification for an HNLF. With ReMAX = 3.8 the results indicate that Raman amplification can be utilised to realise tuneable devices based on fibre non-linearity
