In this paper, we describe and analyze a low complexity scalable video codec that extends our H.264-implementation DAVC. We can show that DSVC, our temporally scaled codec, attains an RD performance identical to the non-scaled version at comparable configuration. We achieve this by QP cascading, a method of assigning gradual refining quantization parameters to the declining temporal layers. The different...
Single-carrier systems using coherent time-division demultiplexing and demodulation of 4-PSK, 8-PSK and 16-QAM at bit rates up to 5.1 Tb/s are reviewed. Emphasis is on transmission experiments up to 1040 km.
For the first time, up to 160 Gbaud 16-QAM and 8-PSK transmission over graded-index multimode fibre is demonstrated using optical time division multiplexing and de-multiplexing in combination with coherent detection.
We have generated single-wavelength channel 8-PSK and 16-QAM RZ-data signals up to 5.1 Tb/s and subsequently extracted the time-division base rate channel using an ultrafast coherent receiver with time-division demultiplexing function and digital BER post-processing.
We report on a combined scheme for automatic compensation of PMD and CD for 160 Gb/s transmission. Separate feedback signals drive individual compensator sections. The compensator performance is verified by error-free transmission over a 480 km link with high residual dispersion and PMD.
