We experimentally demonstrate a single-carrier 400G solution based on 51.25-GBaud PDM-32QAM signal at 6.15-b/s/Hz SE over 1200-km transmission distance. Training assisted pre-compensations and both transmitter and receiver based look-up table are employed to mitigate channel bandwidth constraint and component nonlinearity impairment.
We review the potentials and challenges of applying coherent detection in long-haul transmission systems. We compare several different coherent detection schemes from the aspects of receiver sensitivity, carrier phase recovery, and fiber nonlinearity induced penalty.
In this paper we evaluate the channel capacity of single-mode fiber systems considering two polarizations. We assume systems perturbed by linear amplified spontaneous emission noise (ASEN), namely, ASEN channels. We also assume an ideal coherent receiver that detects a channel's full optical field. We show that the system required OSNR can still be significantly reduced with combined multidimensional...
