We demonstrate an amplification of broadband terahertz pulses in the bandwidth of 500 GHz centered at 2.5 THz. The amplification is based on gain switched quantum cascade structure width the heterogeneous active region.
We studied superconducting gap dynamics in a BCS superconductor NbN and electron doped cuprate superconductor PCCO following excitation with near-infrared (NIR) and narrow band THz pulses. Systematic studies on PCCO imply very selective electron-phonon coupling.
We investigate asymmetric split ring resonators (SRR) for the THz frequency range. These SRRs exhibit sharp resonances and strong field localization, which is of potential interest e.g. for biosensing of minute amount of sample material.
