Results are presented of the transmission properties and the surface damage threshold of several types of step-index silica-core optical fibers at the XeC1 wavelength (308 nm), transmission loss and the fracture limits of these fibers due to bending are measured. The minimum transmission loss of the UV fibers is about 0.33 dB/m and surface damage threshold is about 10 J/cm 2 .
