We propose and demonstrate a novel bi-directional free-space (FS) optical wireless communication system for indoor wireless networks. A 2-D infrared beam-steered system supporting full-duplex communication of at least 10 Gb/s capacity per wireless terminal with simple NRZ-OOK modulation format is experimentally demonstrated. The uplink (UL) is implemented using the optical carrier recovery technique,...
A 38GHz beam steered fiber-wireless system, enabled by a novel integrated optical tunable delay line, is demonstrated for 5G indoor coverage. The beam steering gains 14dBm spatial power focusing and 6 times EVM improvement.
We present a transparent all-optical wireless architecture for full-duplex two-dimensional beam-steered communication system with wavelength reuse. We compare the performances of symmetric (down 10 Gbit/s / up 10 Gbit/s) and asymmetric (down 10 Gbit/s / up 2.5 Gbit/s) systems through experimental evaluation.
A novel parallel optical delay detector for angle-of-arrival measurement is proposed and the measurement errors are experimentally studied and analyzed. Moreover, the measurement accuracy monitoring is investigated.
A simple and low cost remote up conversion (RUC) scheme is proposed using only one optical modulator. The baseband (BB) data and local oscillator (LO) signal are electrically coupled to drive a commercial intense modulator (IM). The laser source and IM can be shared by both BB data and LO signal. With less than 0.3dB power penalty, the 2.5Gbps on-off keying (OOK) data over 50km single mode fiber (SMF)...
Two-stage optical routing using SOA and integrated micro-ring resonator, and remote generation of millimeter-wave signals by optical frequency multiplication is demonstrated for inbuilding network. Both 150Mb/s 64-QAM and 802.11a WLAN signal at 38GHz are transmitted.
We experimentally demonstrate all-optical up-conversion of radio-over-fiber signals based on a dual-pump four-wave mixing in an semiconductor optical amplifier for the first time. 2.5 Gbit/s baseband signals are successfully up-converted to 40-GHz millimeter-wave carrier.
