Using a non-collinear FOPA, a source delivering 1.8 μm, 30 mJ, 13 fs laser pulses is demonstrated. This is the first step towards 100 mJ for ∼10 TW. This laser opens the way for high brightness soft X-ray attosecond pulses.
Among the various femtosecond laser oscillators that are commonly used as optical frequency combs in a wide range of fields, Ti:sapphire oscillators offer the advantage of operating at the highest repetition rates, supporting the shortest pulses with octave-spanning spectra directly from the laser, and exhibiting very low residual frequency noise due to the high quality factor of their resonators...
The paper presents the design of an OPCPA based front end for petawatt class lasers. The issues of beam quality, jitter, spectral and temporal distortion are modeled and compared with experimental results on a novel system producing 100 mJ class pulses from the parametric amplifier section.
Very high power and efficient 980 nm pump laser diodes have been developed in a ridge waveguide process. Based on these laser diodes, modules with a power output of 1 W in the fiber at 1.4 A drive current and a power conversion efficiency of 40% are demonstrated
