A mode multiplexer/demultiplexer with a fused-fibre fan-in/fan-out device for three-mode operation of LP01, LP11a, and LP11b is demonstrated using a partially elongated multi-core fibre. A fabricated mode multiplexer/demultiplexer exhibited a coupling efficiency greater than 79% over the C band.
Linewidth of buried heterostructure photonic crystal nanolaser are studied in terms of output power. We report a linewidth of 143.5 MHz and it is the narrowest linewidth ever reported for photonic crystal based lasers.
We have demonstrated ultrasmall buried heterostructure photonic crystal lasers. Very low threshold optical power in butt-jointed InP waveguide of 1.5 μW and maximum fiber output of 0.44 μW are achieved. High-speed direct modulation (3-dB modulation bandwidth of 5.5 GHz) is also demonstrated at room temperature by optical pumping.
A monolithically integrated tunable transmitter consisting of a tunable DFB laser array and a Mach-Zehnder modulator with a 2-channel SOA is demonstrated. The total output power is twice that of the conventional configuration.
We have demonstrated an output power of 5.6 W at 1180 nm in linearly-polarized fiber laser using a low-loss ytterbium-doped polarization maintaining solid photonic bandgap fiber. A slope efficiency of 31 % has been achieved.
We report the first low threshold, ultra-small buried heterostructure photonic crystal laser. A very low threshold optical power of 1.5 muW in a butt-jointed InP waveguide and a maximum fiber output of 0.44 muW are achieved.
We prepare and experimentally demonstrate dynamic switching of 1times4 InGaAsP/InP multimode interference (MMI) waveguide switch. The rise and fall times of 1.9 ns and 1.4 ns, respectively, are obtained and good crosstalk and extinction ratio of -14.47 dB and 23.39 dB, respectively, are obtained.
Integrated 4-bit (355 times 1200 mum2) optical memory elements, using novel active multi-mode-interferometer bi-stable laser diodes, showed single, common and low operation current (55 mA) with uniform characteristics.
