We present a suite of silica-based thulium-doped fiber amplifiers (TDFAs) operating across the 1650–2050nm waveband. High gain and low NF are achieved by combining several TDFA designs optimized for short, central and long wavelength operation.
We report on generation of strong-field-ionization induced free-space air lasers and explore their applications in remote sensing and molecular physics.
We experimentally investigate gain dynamics and temporal characteristics of a free-space nitrogen laser pumped by circularly-polarized femtosecond laser pulses based on the pump-probe scheme.
We report the realization of a wideband holmium doped fiber amplifier designed for optical communications over 2050 – 2130 nm, providing up to 28 dB small signal gain and 4 – 9.5 dB noise figure.
We report the first demonstration of an inline two mode group thulium-doped fiber amplifier (TMG-TDFA) operating at 2µm for mode-division multiplexed transmission. Similar gain and noise figure performance are obtained for both spatial modes under cladding-pumped operation.
We visualize formation, propagation and collapse of laser-driven plasma bubbles using a single-shot frequency domain streak camera, thereby identifying bubble dynamics that optimize electron injection and acceleration.
We combined experimental terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) and ab-initio simulation based on density functional theory to predict with a large confidence the THz vibration spectrum of molecules in the crystalline phase. The results demonstrate two kinds of vibration modes. One is a pure inter-molecular hydrogen bonding vibration mode, and the other is dominated by inter-molecular and intramolecular...
Presently, all the solid-state pulsed power generators have been developed for industrial applications, such as exhaust gases control, ozone generation, treatment of dioxins and laser excitation [1, 2]. However, miniature pulsed power generator which is suitable for portable applications, e.g. in a vehicle is rarely proposed. In this paper, a miniaturized pulsed power generator using a single-stage...
