To study plasmon-induced charge transfer mechanism between an excited gold nanoparticle (NP) and a TiO 2 NP, which can be applied to solar cell and photocatalyst technologies, ultrafast femtosecond visible-pump/infrared-probe transient absorption spectroscopy was utilized to explore charge separation and recombination dynamics in gold–TiO 2 NP systems. In this review, our recent works...
Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) are prepared using a combination of various carbazole dye derivatives or a ruthenium (Ru) complex dye (N719) and cobalt (Co) complex or I − /I 3− redox couples. With the Co redox couple, the largest molecular dye (MK14) demonstrated a longer lifetime and higher V oc than that of N719 and a comparable lifetime and V oc to those...
Reactions of holes in nanocrystalline TiO 2 films were studied with a newly developed, highly sensitive transient absorption spectrometer. Transient absorption measurements were examined in acetonitrile, water, toluene and alcohols under low excitation intensity conditions. From these results, the reactivity of the holes could be evaluated.
