This paper reports the first coherent WDM-PON (16×2.5 Gb/s QPSK) experimental demonstration with real-time Nyquist OLT transmitters and real-time ONU receivers. Both transmitters/receivers implemented in FPGA use a simple 8-bit DSP architecture. An optimal transmitted power of −7 dBm per channel is achieved for 50 km, 1∶16 split and 2.5 GHz grid.
We propose a method for optical link survivability preservation by acting on the transmitter launch power and bit rate, and on the receiver DSP for linear/nonlinear impairments compensation. We validated the method for a legacy high-loss Brazilian network.
The filter bank multicarrier (FBMC) modulation scheme has recently seen renewed interest and is being considered as a viable alternative to orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). FBMC, however suffers from the same high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) drawback as OFDM systems. Conventional OFDM PAPR reduction techniques cannot be directly applied to FBMC due to the overlapping nature...
Benefits of a low-complexity adaptive 32-tap 2×2 MIMO frequency-domain filter update by data-aided channel estimation over a time-domain filter with DD-LMS are shown. Superior stability and convergence speed is demonstrated with identical impairment tolerance.
