Es geht in beide Richtungen: Ein Thiol‐reaktiver Netzbildner, der auf einem verbrückten Azobenzolderivat basiert, ermöglicht die photoreversible Steuerung der Peptidkonformation durch Bestrahlung mit violettem (407 nm) und grünem Licht (500–550 nm; siehe Bild). Der große Abstand der Absorptionsbanden der cis‐ (gelb) und trans‐Isomere (rot) ermöglicht ein vollständiges bidirektionales Photoschalten.
Zebrafisch mit Schalter: Mithilfe eines fluoreszierenden Reporterpeptids gelingt es, die Photoisomerisierung von Azobenzol in vivo abzubilden (siehe Bild). Daraus folgt, dass photochemische Schalter auf Azobenzolbasis allgemein für die räumlich‐zeitliche Kontrolle in lebenden Systemen eingesetzt werden können.
