The optical-phase-locked-loop linear phase demodulator is the most critical component for a high dynamic range phase modulated RF/Photonic link. Due to the stringent loop latency requirement, the OPLL should be implemented as a photonic integrated circuit. In this paper we address the design and implementation of an all optical attenuation-counter-propagating (ACP) optical-phase-locked-loop photonic...
We present the first optical equalizer realized on Indium Phosphide material that is also monolithically integrated with a semiconductor optical amplifier. We show that the device can mitigate inter-symbol interference arising from narrowband optical filtering of 40-Gb/s non-return-to-zero data. Significant improvement in the measured bit-error rates after optical equalization of the filtered signal...
We demonstrate 26 hours of error-free wavelength switching in less than 50 ns between 32 ITU channels with 100 GHz spacing using a grating assisted codirectional coupler with rear sampled grating reflector (GCSR) laser. This corresponds to a packet-loss rate less than 2times10-11. We also examine the effect of different switching schedules, an important issue for commercial switch fabrics
We demonstrate error-free, asynchronous packet transmission and fast simultaneous switching on four 40 Gb/s ports in a 32-port optical switch fabric. The sensitivity under switching is better than -3 dBm for all four burst-mode receivers
