Forward phase-matched Brillouin optomechanical resonance, excited by a tapered fiber, in a graphene inner-deposited whispering-gallery-mode microfluidic cavity, is demonstrated for the first time. The generated Brillouin optomechanical modes with Q factor ∼ 47000 show extremely high sensitivity (200kHz/ppm) for absolute gas detection based on frequency variation, achieving a detection limit down to...
Two factors are of great importance to the overall performance and efficiency of a fluid distributor: uniform distribution and dead zone volume inside the cavity. From the perspective of improving uniform distribution and reducing dead zones, this research optimized the design of a commonly-used fluid distributor with one side inlet, eight outlets, and a cylinder cavity through numerical simulation...
Protein structure comparison algorithms are useful for predicting aspects of protein function. Some algorithms identify remote homologs, while others distinguish closely related proteins that prefer different substrates. Most of these methods assume that proteins are rigid in order to perform comparisons more rapidly, while others compensate for flexibility by representing proteins as a connected...
The electric field distribution within a cable joint can be strongly distorted due to its complicated structure, which possibly leads to interface discharge between the primary insulation of cable and the insulation of cable joint. Polypropylene (PP) with excellent electrical performance is considered as a promising material used as the primary insulation of cable, while silicone rubber (SiR) has...
We propose a plasmonic refractive index-sensitive nanosensor based on the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) of waveguide resonator systems. The structure consists of one tooth-shaped cavity as well as the bus and stub metal-insulator-metal waveguides. By adjusting the structural geometry, it is demonstrated that the controllable transmission of EIT response can be obtained with the finite-difference-time-domain...
Electric field distributions of resonant modes in a photonic crystal nanocavity were imaged using atomic force microscope nano-oxidation. A grid pattern of nano-size oxides was grown on the nanocavity to perturb the resonant modes. The perturbation caused a shift in the resonant wavelength that was proportional to the local electric field intensity of the resonant mode. The experimentally obtained...
We design a quasi-L2 (qL2) photonic crystal nano-cavity (PCN), which has a very small mode volume Vm of 1.6(λ/2n)3 and a reasonably high Q value of 15,000 theoretically. By manipulating the radii of air holes, the mode spacing is extended and a single defect mode operation within the gain spectrum of InAs QDs is achieved. A room temperature operation InAs QDs PCN laser with an ultra-low threshold...
The energy output characteristics, temporal profile and spectral characteristics of xenon-lamp pumped dye (PM580) laser with different molar concentrations were investigated in this paper. The experimental setup adopts the ordinary industrial products without special design. Output energies have been achieved with energy conversion efficiency and slope efficiency of almost 0.336% and 0.36%.
