Utility patent applications are usually published 18 months after they are filed and before patents are actually issued. These so-called pre-grant publications and their corresponding issued patents are both cited individually and concurrently by the applicants or examiners of subsequent patent applications as relevant prior art. Most patent analysts however overlook the citations to the pre-grant...
Information systems have been widely used to support workflow processes to record the execution of tasks in the process and are stored in so-called “event logs”. Techniques that relate to events extraction have gotten increasing attention such as process mining techniques. Developed process mining methods such as alpha algorithm, alpha++ algorithm, and genetic process mining (GPM) are capable of tackling...
Reference workflow model are a popular tool for business process reengineering (BPR). A good reference workflow model should not contain structural problems, e.g. deadlock or unfinished instances. Therefore, the structure of the reference workflow model should be verified to effectively facilitate BPR projects and reduce the errors of workflow system implementation. This work presents a novel pattern-based...
The frequency response of an extemal electro-optic probe has been determined, experimeritally and using finite-difference, time-domain simulations, to be extremely sensitve to both the elevation and permittivity of the probe. An analytical expression to correct for the system response of the probe has been tested. The use of low-permittivity EO polymers has also been proposed and demonstrated computationally.
