Experimental results about tests on a commercial power bricks under radiations is presented. The experimental obtained results are very interesting in order to evaluate the possibility to use particular electronic device, which can be used in harsh environment. The power bricks tested in this paper highlights interesting technical specification.
Formulations for the weakly relativistic two-dimensional electrostatic space charged limiting current density in drift space have been derived by considering the uniform injection of electrons over a finite strip of width W in a planar drift space of gap separation D. The two-dimensional limiting current density in units of the one-dimensional current density was found to monotonically increase with...
Linear and nonlinear behaviors of gyrotron backward wave oscillators (gyro-BWO) were investigated by both analytical theories and direct numerical calculations. Employing two-scale-length expansion, an analytical linear dispersion relation corresponding to absolute instabilities in a finite-length system has been derived. Detuning from the beam-wave resonance condition due to the finite amplitude...
We present developments in the search for engineered radio emissions from advanced extraterrestrial life. Our group is currently engaging in both targeted and sky survey searches for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI), covering a wide variety of narrow-band and pulsed signal types. We are also developing new SETI instrumentation, designed to be flexible, modular and to employ commodity components...
The physics of quantum dot lasers are studied theoretically and experimentally to study their threshold temperature dependence, and the relationship between internal loss and threshold current density.
Summary form only given. We report on recent experimental and theoretical investigations of highly excited atoms prepared from a dense atomic sample in a magneto-optical trap (MOT). The goals of the work are two-fold. First, by exciting atoms above the ionization potential (IP) we can study the properties of an ultracold plasma of electrons (T<1 K) and ions (T<1 mK). Second, tuning the excitation...
