In this paper, we presented fabrication of nickel metal mold with 45?? tilted surfaces on both waveguide ends through electroplating process. To obtain 45?? angle, SU-8 was exposed under D.I. water, with repeatable 0.5?? error.
We developed an analytical method to optimize the design of Y-fed direction couplers at large modulation depth from 10% to 50%. We propose a nanophotonic modulator structure based on silicon photonic crystal slot waveguide filled with electro-optic polymer. The slow photon effect in conjunction with the strong optical confinement enhances the electro-optic coefficient over 2500 times.
A novel Y-branch directional coupler modulator (YDCM) with high linearity based on domain-inverted modulation was fabricated and tested. A two-tone test was performed to demonstrate the improvement of linearity of four-domain YDCM over two-domain YDCM.
