An ultra-low-energy, high-dose, B-based implant was inserted after source/drain formation and before metal silicide contact deposition for PMOS devices. B beam-line implant and plasma doping (PLAD) using either B2H6 or BF3 gases were utilized for this implant process. The resulting PMOS device performance showed significant improvements, including ∼70 percent lower contact resistances, similar threshold...
We demonstrate butt-coupling of a 3.4 μm interband cascade laser into a 3.7 μm thick by 7 μm wide GeSbS chalcogenide ridge waveguide and measure a total insertion loss of −28 dB.
Visible light trimming of As2S3-assisted optical waveguides is exploited to compensate for fabrication tolerances and to demonstrate permanent reconfiguration of photonic integrated circuits. Applications to ring-resonator filters and variable delay lines are presented.
The following abstracts are given: Optimized Germanium Co-Implant with B2H6 PLAD for Better Advanced PMOS Device Performance; Design of low noise CMOS charge pump with adjustable output voltage and adjustable power; Measurement and Simulation of Various Geometries of LTCC Electron Hop Funnels; Efficient Design and Synthesis of Decimation Filters for Wideband Delta-Sigma ADCs; A Novel Material Solution...
We present the design, fabrication and testing of a multiplexed multichannel Coulter counter. The micromachined device is used to achieve high throughput for counting microparticles. Multiplexed detection is achieved by amplitude modulation of signals from individual channels, requiring only one set of detection electronics. Preliminary testing results using 30 mum polystyrene particles demonstrate...
We determine the optimal inner glass ring thickness and its dependence on the glass index in infrared PBGFs. We find that the optimal thickness is 0.04Lambda and the optimal index is as small as possible.
We calculate the minimum loss and maximum relative bandgap as a function of the air-filling factor in a photonic bandgap fiber for n=1.4 to 2.8. The maximum relative bandgap accurately indicates the lowest-loss air-filling factor.
We show that loss is minimized at an air-filling factor of 0.8 with a refractive index of 2.4 in photonic bandgap chalcogenide fiber (lambda = 4 mum). This air-filling factor also corresponds to the maximum relative bandgap
This paper presents a new type of linear ultrasonic actuator that can drive a slide by ultrasound. The ultrasonic actuator consists of a metal plate with uniform triangular grooves, multilayer piezoelectric vibrator, and supporting structure. The multilayer piezoelectric vibrator is used to excite a flexural vibration in the metal plate that is adjusted to lie horizontally. When the metal plate vibrates,...
