The location of resin molecules at an oil-water interface was investigated using low angle X-ray diffraction of lamellar liquid crystals as model systems. In general, the results revealed that resin molecules are located at the interface in contrast with the hydrocarbon molecules in crude oil and also that there is a difference between the conditions at an interface with nonionic and ionic surfactants.
