Multilevel topology and selective harmonic compensation (SHC) can control active power, reactive power, and to provide ancillary functions to support the grid. However, researchers find that with conventional L or LCL filter, multilevel SHC would act as noise source and inject harmonics to the grid by itself. Moreover, the output current of the multilevel converter is sensitive to the error of the...
This paper first developed magnetic reluctance models for magnetic inductors. The near magnetic field emission of the inductors with different winding and air gap configurations are analyzed based on the developed models. Several inductor structures are proposed to reduce the near magnetic field emission. Simulation and experiments are conducted to validate the developed techniques.
The paper investigates the near magnetic field performance of integrated CM and DM inductors. The reluctance model is developed for near magnetic field analysis. Based on the analysis, several integrated inductor structures using commercial EE/EI cores to achieve low near magnetic field emission are proposed. Simulations and experiments were conducted to verify the proposed inductor structures.
In this paper multiple feedback(FB) active filter configurations for DM EMI noise in the input side of AC/DC converters has been analyzed using developed models and then their performance was compared over single FB active filters using measurements. First, a single FB active filter circuit model is developed in the open loop and then based on DM EMI noise model of AC/DC converters, a closed loop...
RF self-interference cancellation for Full-Duplex communication with a microwave photonic technique is proposed and demonstrated experimentally. It is based on an integrated dual-parallel Mach-Zehnder modulator (DP-MZM), where the sub-MZMs (MZM1 and MZM2) are biased at the quadrature point and the minimum point, respectively. It avoids the optical interference at the combining Y branch waveguide....
ECN thresholds have limited operational range and very strict scope. Lower thresholds exacerbate the queue underflow while higher thresholds increase the queueing delays. In this paper, an Adaptive ECN (A-ECN) marking scheme is proposed to enhance the performance of ECN. A-ECN can adaptively adjust ECN marking thresholds in different scenarios to achieve good generality. Therefore, network operators...
EMI noise could bring electromechanical damages to the motors as well as reduce the stability of AC traction system. Since the high frequency noises propagate paths are quite complicated compared with fundamental frequency components, the high frequency EMI noise coupled through system's parasitic parameters is difficult to analyze and eliminated. In this paper, a common-mode equivalent circuit as...
A novel fault detection method based on margin statistics of generalized non-negative matrix factorization (GNMF) is proposed. The construction of traditional process monitoring method based on multivariate statistical that neglects the correlation relation and feature distribution of latent variables at different sampling times, and the method also need to assume that latent variables satisfy a particular...
This paper presents a real-time vision based robot teleoperation system that consists of a three-dimensional (3D) vision subsystem and a slave robot which are connected by LAN. The vision subsystem utilizes an Asus Xtion Pro Live camera to get the 3D data of the operation scene. The vision system is used to determine the position and orientation of a four-ball feature frame held by the operator. Then...
Digital holograms are presented as a way to re-present and contextualise works of art that are too valuable or fragile to be transported to, and placed in, a holographic imaging system. The prototype exercise was conducted on Chinese Yuan Dynasty blue-and-white porcelain artefacts. The specific aim of the work was to explore digital holographic printing as an innovative technology to recover detailed...
Although existing standards such as IEC62684 and EN 301 489-34 limit the line frequency common mode (CM) voltages at the output of AC/DC converters, the mechanism and characteristics of line frequency CM voltages at the outputs of AC/DC converters are unclear and the technique to reduce it is not well investigated and developed. In this paper, the line frequency CM voltages at the outputs of AC/DC...
With the PWM techniques widely applied in motor drive systems, the impact of the electromagnetic interference (EMI) in adjustable speed drive (ASD) system cannot be ignored. EMI noise in motor drive systems could bring electromechanical damages to the motors as well as reduce the stability of the ASD system. Since the high frequency noises propagate paths are quite complicated compared with fundamental...
In order to satisfy the requirements of PMSM servo system high performance control, this paper proposes a novel inertia identification method, which uses the improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm, and this method can estimate both the moment of inertia and load torque. With the sampled discrete date of motor speed and q-axis current, based on the minimum variance principle, the convex...
The high switching frequencies of power converters always lead to severe radiated EMI. The modeling and analysis of the converter with undesired antenna such as input/output cables are very important for the research on radiation. This paper first develops the model for undesired antenna in converters and discusses its relationship with the radiated power. Then the antenna's interaction with converter...
The rapid advances of transportation infrastructure have led to a dramatic increase in the demand for smart systems capable of monitoring traffic and street safety. Fundamental to these applications are a community-based evaluation platform and benchmark for object detection and multi-object tracking. To this end, we organize the AVSS2017 Challenge on Advanced Traffic Monitoring, in conjunction with...
The common mode (CM) noise of power adapters tends to interfere the performance of touchscreens of consumer electronics. However, there's a lack of literature illustrating and modeling the mechanism. This paper investigates the CM noise source impedances of the AD/DC adapters and the characteristics of touchscreens. Based on this understanding, the relationship of CM voltage of an adapter and the...
Manipulation in nano-scale is important to the development of Nano-technology, while position sensing is the base of nano-manipulation. Self-sensing is a method providing true sensor-actuator collocation and especially suitable for room-limited workspace. This paper introduced a self-sensing method for displacement measurement, based on charge amplifier. The principle of self-sensing was derived from...
This paper addresses the mechanism design of a novel lightweight underwater manipulator. This underwater manipulator has the properties of light weight, small size and uniform mass distribution. Specifically, the implement of every joint and the gripper of the underwater manipulator is presented. Then the forward kinematics model is built based on Denavit-Hartenberg principle, and the inverse differential...
This paper deals with the problem of dynamic hovering of a bio-inspired robot with undulatory fins. First, the mechanism and dynamic model of the underwater robot named RobCutt-II is briefly introduced. Next, an neural network visual servo control is presented to achieve hovering control. In particular, a dual-loop visual hovering control is designed. At first, we analyze the relationship between...
