We propose a novel distributed self-protection scheme for WDM-PONs using circulator-AWG based wavelength router. The novel wavelength router enables proper routing of working and protection lightpaths of the uplink and downlink signals. Automatic protection switching is operated in a distributed control manner and thus ultra-short 0.7-μs protection switching time is achieved. Redundant fibers required...
We demonstrate ITU-grid multi-channel chirp- free CS-RZ optical pulse generation with a repetition rate of 160 GHz using a single set of a phase modulator driven by a 40 GHz clock and two stages of polarization-maintaining fiber. The unwanted low frequency tones are suppressed by more than 25 dB.
We present a system design for hybrid Ethernet and WDM employing commercial ethernet hardware platform, and experimentally evaluate various schemes to achieve switching between Ethernet forwarding and optical cut-through lightpaths.
