Zinc oxide (ZnO) has attracted much attention for various applications because of its unique electrical, optical, magnetic and piezoelectric properties. ZnO nanowires (NWs) are often grown onto the carbon fiber (CF) surface to improve the electrical conductivity and flexibility of ZnO, and it is important to understand and further enhance the interaction between ZnO NWs and CFs. Herein, ZnO NWs were...
Three-dimensional (3D) graphene-based porous materials with a combination of low density, superelasticity, excellent mechanical resilience and tunable functionalities can be used in diverse applications. Here we report an approach of fabricating the stable and flexible 3D graphene aerogel materials with tunable functionality via a general silane-assisted processing that maintains an effective control...
High thermal conductive graphite flakes/Al composites were prepared by optimized squeeze casting technique with higher molten temperature and lower infiltration pressure. The characterization and thermal conductivity (TC) of graphite flakes/Al composites were investigated. The graphite flakes/Al composite prepared from 70 vol. % natural graphite has a high TC as high as 714 W/m K, as well as a high...
In order to improve the electrochemical performance of Na/CFx cell, fluorinated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (F-MWCNTs) and a new composite consisting of CFx, graphene nanosheets (GNS) and FeF3 (labeled as CGF for short) were employed as cathode materials in rechargeable room-temperature sodium batteries for the first time. The polarizations of Na/F-MWCNTs and Na/CGF cell were found to be 1600 and...
F and N co-doped reduced graphene oxide (F,N-RGO) was synthesized by annealing the mixture of N-doped reduced graphene oxide (N-RGO) and XeF 2 at 180°C. The photoluminescence (PL) properties of F,N-RGO were studied. The results show that F,N-RGO exhibits two strong ultraviolet (UV) PL centered at 365 and 310nm, and the PL at 310nm can be appropriately tuned by tailoring the N content further.
N-doped graphene (NG) has been prepared by annealing reduced graphene oxide (RGO) in ammonia. The magnetic properties of RGO and NG have been studied. The results showed that doping RGO with N at a relatively low temperature (⩽600°C) can increase its magnetization, and which can be increased by 64.1% at the annealing temperature of 500°C.
Double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) were synthesized by a metal-catalyst-free chemical vapor deposition method using silicon oxide nanoparticles as a catalyst. The diameters and lengths of the DWCNTs are in the ranges of 3–5nm and 1–5μm, respectively. The amount of DWCNTs produced is about 70%, while the remainder is single-walled carbon nanotubes. A heat treatment of the SiO 2 /Si substrate...
A method of integrating hybrid thin films of graphene nanosheets (GNSs) and silver nanoparticles (AgNps) by in situ chemical reduction to prepare transparent conductive films (TCFs) is studied. The surface functional groups of graphite oxide (GO) serve as nucleation sites of silver ions for adsorption of AgNps. To fabricate conductive films with high transmittance, polyurethane (PU) nanofibers are...
A simple one-step method of the synthesis of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) grafted onto carbon fibers (CFs) was developed using catalysts formed in an ethanol flame, where the reducing atmosphere prevents the CFs from combustion and reduces the catalyst precursor to catalyst particles on the fibers. The growth process was studied and both the type and concentration of catalyst ions were found to affect...
