Oktaedrische Pt‐Ni‐Nanopartikel (NPs) werden durch einen koordinationsunterstützten chemischen Ätzprozess in konkave Pt3Ni‐NPs überführt (siehe Schema). Die korrodierten konkaven Pt‐Ni‐NPs haben eine größere Dichte von niederkoordinierten Atomen an Kristallstufen – ein wichtiger Faktor in der heterogenen Katalyse.
Formkontrolle: Einheitliche Pd‐Nanokristalle als Ikosa‐, Deka‐, Okta‐ oder Tetraeder sowie dreieckige Plättchen wurden in einem hydrophoben System hergestellt. Oleylamin (OAm) spielt eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Formgebung, indem es die Balance zwischen Formänderungs‐ und Oberflächenenergie vermittelt (siehe Bild). Die erhaltenen Pd‐Nanokristalle katalysieren die Oxidation von Ameisensäure.
