Although wide bandgap solid state devices are one of the most promising technologies for high power, high frequency applications, high device temperatures often lead to degraded performance and reliability. Thus, accurately predicting and maintaining device temperature at an acceptable level is a key to realizing the full potential of wide bandgap electronics. In this work, we present a closed-form...
In previous studies, an omni-directional walking support machine has been developed for people suffering from walking impairment. During walking support, the machine can identify the user's directional intention according to the user's forearm pressures and support the user to where they want to go. However, the motion performance of the machine is affected by the center-of-gravity (COG) shifts and...
This work numerically examines the influences of 2004 Ferrari Formula One race car wing (spoiler) destructions on the overall race car aerodynamics characteristics which are believed to have direct connection to 2004 Ferrari Formula One race car accidents. Based on current study, the pressure distribution on the race car has been analyzed. Also, it has been proven that the installation of the front,...
In this paper, a three-dimensional (3D) eddy current field model to calculate the eddy current losses in an isolated phase bus is proposed. The temperature rises of the conductors and enclosures in the isolated phase bus are evaluated using the proposed set of thermal equations. Good agreement between the computed and test results is a good validation of the proposed methodology.
