The Institute of Electronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IECAS) is developing a 4.6% instantaneous bandwidth 17 kW CW S-band klystron for use in communication system. The designs and results of measurement of the klystrons with two types of broadband output circuits respectively are presented and discussed in the paper.
The design parameters and test results of X-band Broadband CW Klystron at IECAS were presented in this paper. Under the beam voltage of 17.5 kV and the beam current of 3.25 A, the klystron KX 4139-5# got output power of 13.7~15.9 kW with efficiency of 24.1~27.9%, gain of 37.1~44.7 dB and bandwidth of 95 MHz.
