We characterized the terahertz emission from a thin metal film with quasi-randomly distributed porous nanostructures. Unlike many demonstrated nanostructured metal terahertz sources, the emission is in the forward direction when the laser excitation illuminates the metal film at normal incidence, making its integration in a time-domain terahertz system straightforward. We attribute the generation...
Enhanced terahertz-to-infrared(THz-to-IR)emission from gas-surrounded nanostructured metal films as a result of femtosecond laser irradiation is systematically investigated using selected gases. The dependencies of the THz-to-IR power on the gas species, gas pressure, and pump optical power are studied for Ar, N2, Ne, and He. The experimental results reveal that the power of the THz-to-IR emission...
It has been observed that Terahertz (THz) wave was radiated from nanostructured metal gratings and metal films, which was illuminated by femtosecond laser pulse. In this paper, we got more than 60µ J intense single THz pulse, and the maximum spectrum was distributed from 0.3 to 149 THz. Theoretical calculation was performed to explain the generation mechanism.
A novel passive single-channel THz imaging system employing a Cassegrain antenna of 390 mm in diameter and Schottky diodes as detecting part, and the cooperation of a high-speed line scanning mirror driven by a crank-rocker mechanism and a frame scanning mirror as two-dimensional optical-mechanical scanning part is described in this paper. The single frame imaging time of the system is only 20s, the...
Impacts of electron trapping/detrapping on the negative bias temperature instability (NBTI) characteristics in silicon nanowire transistors (SNWTs) with metal gates are experimentally studied in this paper. It is demonstrated that large amounts of as-grown defects, including both electron traps and hole traps, are induced by nanowire structure due to multiple surface crystal orientations of the cylinder...
