Merkel Cell Polyomavirus (MCV) is associated with more than 80% of Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC), a rare but highly lethal form of skin cancer. We made use of the immunological data on MCV available through publications and databases and constructed MCV T cell Antigen Database (MCVdb). MCVdb contains 734 curated antigen entries of MCV antigenic proteins and 30 experimentally verified T cell epitopes...
We demonstrate on-chip multi-channel phase-sensitive amplification in a nonlinear waveguide, achieving 5 dB net gain and 15 dB extinction ratio. We show the manipulation of individual channels in a multi-channel scheme through controlling the initial phases.
We design a three mode elliptical-core mode-selective photonic lantern (EC-MSPL) which can match well with the elliptical core few mode fiber in MIMO-free MDM systems. The mode crosstalk of the EC-MSPL are below −20dB for all three modes.
An integrated photonic chip for continuous-variable quantum key distribution is designed and fabricated. The modulation speed reaches 0.4 GHz. High extinction ratio up to 40 dBm for polarization multiplexing components is achieved.
The bandwidth of a broadband dual-polarized antenna is enhanced by adding two parasitic elements: a larger parasitic element below the dual-polarized element and a smaller parasitic element above the dual-polarized element. The bandwidth enhanced dual-polarized antenna covers the frequency range from 1.5 to 2.7 GHz with good performance.
This paper reports recent progress beyond our initial report [1] in resonator fiber optic gyroscope (RFOG) development towards realization of a next generation compact device for commercial navigation applications by incorporation of silicon optical bench technology to miniaturize resonator and input optics. The resonator fiber optic gyro is being pursued because of its theoretical potential to meet...
We demonstrated experimentally a stable 1μm multi-wavelength YDF based random fiber laser by using a polarization independent Sagnac-loop mirror with output power of 1.6W and high OSNR of 30dB.
A novel phase-shifted optical analog-to-digital converter using cascaded step-size MMI as quantization module is demonstrated. The cascaded MMI on SOI has a compact footprint of 7.5×100 μm2 and ultra-low insertion loss of 0.2dB.
The bandgap reference circuits are very sensitive to electromagnetic interferences (EMI) which induce voltage offset on their outputs. Two bandgap chips with different technologies are designed for EMC study. The conducted immunity of VDD and VSS pins are tested following direct power injection (DPI) method. The aim of this study is to compare the susceptibility characteristics of same bandgap circuit...
This paper presents the impact of FDSOI back gate biasing on circuit conducted emission. The back gate bias can modulate front gate electrical characteristic, and changing the circuit performance and power consumptions dynamically. Meanwhile, the electromagnetic emission of circuit is changing with the back gate variation. A ring oscillator is tested to illustrate the relation between back gate biasing...
Phase-sensitive amplification (PSA) is a nonlinear optical interaction providing attractive functionalities for all-optical classical and quantum signal processing with a wide range of promising applications, such as regeneration of high modulation formats [1] and amplification of entangled single-photon sources [2]. To exploit PSA in a scalable and compact implementation, this technique has been...
In this paper, the interaction between a Taylor-Couette flow between two-coaxial cylinders and an electroconvective motion induced by an unipolar injection from the inner cylinder is numerically investigated. A flow is generated by two counter-rotating coaxial cylinders inducing a shear flow. Space charges are injected in the flow through a metallic electrode placed on the inner cylinder and brought...
This paper presents a novel electrostatic vibration energy harvester with two opposite-charged-electret design for enhanced output performance. The device consists mainly of three parallel silicon plates. The middle plate of spring-mass resonant system is double-side patterned with electrodes. The negatively and positively charged electret plates are located on the bottom and top positions, respectively...
To improve the latency and bandwidth performance for future high performance computing application, a sub-micron electrical interconnection composed of metal capping layer with sub-micron thickness on typical copper CMP (chemical mechanical polish) BEOL (back-end of line) structure is demonstrated, and the corresponding metal deposition including Ni, Pd, Au using electro-less technique are reported...
In this paper, we present a vision-aided inertial navigation system (VINS) for localizing wheeled robots. In particular, we prove that VINS has additional unobservable directions, such as the scale, when deployed on a ground vehicle that is constrained to move along straight lines or circular arcs. To address this limitation, we extend VINS to incorporate low-frequency wheel-encoder data, and show...
Standards for scoring adverse effects after radiation therapy (RT) is crucial for integrated, consistent, and accurate analysis of toxicity results at large scale and across multiple studies. This project aims to investigate the usage of the three most commonly used standards in published RT clinical studies by developing a text-mining based analysis method. We develop and compare two text-mining...
Recently, electret-based electrostatic and triboelectric energy harvesting devices have demonstrated their great potential in converting ambient mechanical energy to electrical energy due to their merits of low cost, easy formation and long-term stability. For electret-based generators, the performance of the state-of-the-art MEMS energy harvesters mostly falls into the range of nW or μW level, limiting...
In the first comparison of identical 1.3µm InAs/AlGaAs quantum-dot structures grown on silicon (with defect filter layers, but no germanium) and GaAs substrates, both demonstrate dot-state emission of similar intensity, spectral breadth and areal dot density (3.3–3.5×1010cm−2) with a 35nm blue shift on silicon.
Measurement of microradian angular vibratory could be used for acquiring posture and vibratory information of the satellite platform, laser weapons and optical remote sensing platform, so that it could control posture of platform steadily. Without mechanical wear of traditional gyroscope and limited by optics comparing with optical gyroscope, the angular vibratory sensor based on magnetohydrodynamics(MHD)...
