mmMAGIC (Millimetre-Wave Based Mobile Radio Access Network for Fifth Generation Integrated Communications) is an EU funded 5G-PPP project, whose overall objective is to design and pre-develop a mobile radio access technology (RAT) operating in the 6–100 GHz range, capable of impacting standards and other relevant fora. The focus of the project is on extreme Mobile Broadband, which is expected to drive...

This paper proposes an efficient estimation and pilot-free online re-calibration scheme for frequency-selective $I/Q$ imbalance in broadband direct-conversion transmitters (Txs) with multi-band multi-standard capability. For such Txs, the main challenge lies in the online re-calibration during normal operation, where an ordinary Tx signal, instead of dedicated pilot signals, is used for estimation...
Recently, much attention has been paid to frequency selective I/Q-imbalance, which can seriously limit the performance of broadband direct-conversion transceivers and degrade the baseband pre-linearization of the power amplifier in the transmitter. This paper addresses the issue of joint calibration of frequency selective I/Q-imbalance and modulator DC-offset error in the transmitter. The presented...
The presented 60 GHz experimental system has achieved data rates of 192 Mbps both in LOS and NLOS scenarios, showing that with appropriate RF front-end design and transmission techniques, the potential of 60 GHz transmission can be exploited for future high data rate indoor communication. This work has been supported in part by the Investitionsbank Berlin (IBB) under grant 10022938 by means of EFRE.
This paper gives a review of important aspects and current developments in 60 GHz broadband communication. We present channel measurement results for a conference room and analyze the channel capacity. The results clearly demonstrate the capability of the 60 GHz approach. Finally, we outline a concept for a wireless 60 GHz in-flight entertainment system.
