This paper presents a proposed cuckoo search algorithm with interactive learning and linear decreasing probability strategy (CSIL) to solve the economic dispatch problem with power balance, prohibited operating zones, valve point effect, and ramp rate. In the new approach, interactive learning strategy helps the nest to exchange good information from each other. Meanwhile, the linear decreasing probability...
A permutation flowshop scheduling problem of optimizing the makespan and the total flow time, which can be expressed as Fm|prum|(Cmax, ΣCi), is considered in this paper. An improved multi-objective memetic algorithm (IMOMA) is proposed due to the NP-hardness of the problem. In order to effectively trade-off between two objectives, we propose a NEH and LR heuristic based initialization strategy and...
We consider a heterogeneous cellular network with densely underlaid small cell access points (SAPs). Wireless backhaul provides the data connection from the core network to SAPs. To serve as many SAPs and their corresponding users as possible with guaranteed data rates, admission control of SAPs needs to be performed in wireless backhaul. Such a problem involves joint design of transmit beamformers,...
We demonstrate experimentally adaptive recursive-least-square frequency-domain equalization (RLS-FDE) for mode-division-multiplexing. The RLS-FDE algorithm improves convergence speed as transmission distance increases. For MDM transmission over a 1,000-km few-mode fiber, the convergence speed was increased by 17.5 times in comparison with LMS-FDE.
We consider the admission control of small cell access points (SAPs) supported by wireless backhaul in a heterogeneous network. The SAP admission control in wireless backhaul is performed at the wireless backhaul hub (WBH), which aims to serve as many SAPs as possible with the guaranteed data rates. Such a problem involves joint design of transmit beamformers, power control, and selection of SAPs,...
Pointcloud registration has a number of applications in various research areas. Computational complexity and accuracy are two major concerns for a pointcloud registration algorithm. This paper proposes a novel Fast Coherent Point Drift (F-CPD) algorithm for 3D pointcloud registration. The original CPD method is very time-consuming. The situation becomes even worse when the number of points is large...
Joint transmission (JT) is an attractive coordinated multipoint (CoMP) downlink transmission technique in multi-cell networks. It offers high system throughput but needs to distribute each user data to multiple base stations (BSs), which can lead to huge backhaul signaling overhead when the number of users is large. In this paper, we address the problem of jointly optimizing the BS assignment for...
In this paper, a bi-dimensional search method is proposed for unconstrained optimization problems. Traditional methods for solving the unconstrained optimization problems are usually based on one-dimensional search (or line search) to determine the step size as these methods only use one descent direction in each iteration. When two search directions are available in each iteration, conventional one-dimensional...
