We experimentally demonstrate a vector-mode-division-multiplexing (VMDM) system based on opticalfrequency comb (OFC) over 80cm free space optical (FSO) link. The 228 Gbit/s data transmission has been achieved by using two basic vector modes over 20 wavelengths with direct detection orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DD-OFDM) signal. The result shows that this VMDM system should be a good...
We review the requirements for optical performance monitoring in high capacity DSP based coherent optical transmission systems. Recent proposed schemes for OSNR and CD monitoring for coherent systems are summarized.
We experimentally demonstrated a 429.96-Gb/s OFDM/OQAM-64QAM transmission over 400-km standard single mode fiber on the 50 GHz ITU-T grid. The spectral efficiency is as high as 8.63 bit/s/Hz.
We proposed a method to estimate the laser phase noise using the phase noise to intensity noise conversion based on the direct detection (DD) technique. It is shown by simulation that the estimated results approach when the laser line-width is no larger than 1MHz. Besides, compared with coherent detection -based phase noise estimation, the DD technique provides cost-efficient solutions.
The influence of optical filtering on direct detected NRZ-D8PSK system is investigated for two modulator implementations. Better tolerance to filtering can be achieved for parallel implementation of a 112 Gb/s signal in 50 GHz spacing system.
Without using polarization multiplexing, 114-Gbit/s D8PSK for 50-GHz WDM grid has been successfully demonstrated and transmitted over SSMF of 500 km. For each WDM channel, 2 subcarriers with D8PSK modulation are employed to enhance the dispersion tolerance.
We demonstrate a novel in-line chromatic dispersion monitoring scheme for 100 Gbit/s RZ-DQPSK signal based on delay tap sampling and asymmetry ratio evaluation. This scheme can differentiate positive and negative residual chromatic dispersion.
Eight channel 100 Gbit/s CSRZ-DQPSK system with automatic bias control and clock and data recovery module is demonstrated. 1520 km transmission with standard single mode fibre and EDFA amplification is achieved with 1.9 dB OSNR penalty.
