Terahertz (THz) wave real time imaging has promising applications in the fields of nondestructive examination, security detection and so on, however, the present THz focal plane arrays has many defects. The conventional plasma generated by discharging inert gases using DC bias voltage has been used in THz wave detection1. Although the conventional plasma detector can obtain a THz image with high resolution...
Terahertz (THz) pulse imaging can provide not only the image, but also the constituent of the detected object. However, various noises from THz source, detector and other parts will decrease the image quality. In this paper, a THz image of a metal hoop was obtained by pulse THz waves, and the finite impulse response digital filter was used to remove the low frequency noise caused by the unstability...
Plasma generated in discharged noble gases has been successfully used for terahertz (THz) wave detection. We theoretically analysed the detection mechanism, and found the electrons in the weakly ionized plasma can obtain energy from the incident THz radiation and convert excitation collisions of electrons with excited neutral atoms into ionization collisions, so the ionization current increases. An...
A fast terahertz (THz) continuous-wave detector based on weakly ionized plasma is developed. Its response time can be less than a microsecond according to calculation. By comparing with a Schottky diode in a THz interferometer, we illustrated that our detector has faster response time, linear responsivity, and higher signal-to-noise ratio.
