We present ISI reduction of an 850 nm VCSEL-based back-to-back optical link using a one-tap electronic pre-emphasis filter and compare it to a VCSEL link without filtering with similar launch conditions. Error floors are eliminated by the use of the filter.
We compare QPSK with a rate 0.75 LDPC-code and PS-QPSK, which have the same spectral efficiency, in long-haul WDM transmission. We show that LDPC-coded PM-QPSK can achieve up to 98% increased transmission distance over uncoded PS-QPSK at BER = 10−3.
Frequency nondegenerate phase-sensitive amplifiers (PSAs) have the potential to realize broadband and noiseless amplification. However, the rigorous requirement of phase- and wavelength-locking of the input waves has significantly hampered their progress. In this paper, we review recent research on this type of optical amplifier. This work is based on a copier-PSA scheme, which consists of a parametric...
An injection-locking-based pump recovery system for phase-sensitively amplified links is proposed and studied experimentally. Measurements with 10 Gbaud DQPSK signals show penalty-free recovery of 0.8 GHz FWHM bandwidth pump with 63 dB overall amplification.
We experimentally demonstrate up to 2 dB sensitivity improvement for 8-level subcarrier modulation compared to conventional 8-level subcarrier modulation.
We demonstrate a parametric amplifier with precise control of the in-going waves and study gain and saturation properties in both PSA and PIA mode. A PSA gain of 33 dB is achieved.
