Two-photon and four-photon interference are realized in an interferometric fiber optical gyroscope, respectively. The visibility of four-photon interference fringe is 29.4% with a high coincidence count rate of 1000 per minute.
1.5 μm polarization entanglement generation is experimentally demonstrated based on birefringence in polarization maintained dispersion shifted fiber. Two-photon interference with visibility of >89% without subtracting background counts is achieved, indicating its polarization entanglement property.
Birefringence in microstructure fiber leads to polarization dependent parametric florescence, which provides a novel scheme for polarization entangled photon pair generation. Its feasibility is demonstrated by two-photon interference measurement with fringes visibilities of >93%.
