This paper presents a new antenna design for cognitive radio communication. A prototype antenna was fabricated and tested. A good agreement was found between the simulated and measured data. A good coupling was achieved between the sensing and the communicating antenna.
Cylindrical antenna arrays are characterized by high directivities, narrow beams, and low sidelobe levels. They were successfully used to increase the user capacity in the downlink of WCDMA cellular systems. Their high directivities lead to an increase of interference in the adjacent cells, whereas their narrow beams and low sidelobes help efficiently in interference mitigation. A tradeoff between...
This paper presents a new approach for the design of a multi-band bowtie antenna. By incorporating slots with different shapes and sizes on the arms of the bowtie, resonance is obtained in the 2.4 GHz, 3.5 GHz, and 5 GHz bands corresponding to Wi-Fi 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g , 802.11n, and WiMAX 802.16-2004 standards. A study of the effect of circular and triangular slots, their size and their location...
In this paper, a low-cost ultra-wideband microstrip antenna is presented. The antenna is based on a 1.6-mm-thick FR4 substrate, is microstrip-line fed and has a partial ground plane. The return loss is more than 10 dB in the 1.9-13.5 GHz frequency range. Possible applications include 3G, Wi-Fi, WiMAX, and UWB applications. The gain results and pattern plots of the antenna are included in the paper.
In this paper, a V-shaped conical antenna was presented and investigated. Each arm of the antenna has two conical sections, a conducting lower one and an upper one with low conductivity. The conical shape serves to improve the broadband characteristics of the conducting section and also to make the resistive loading of the upper section variable, which results in further bandwidth enlargement. An...
This letter presents a new approach for the design of a multiresonant printed bowtie antenna. Several techniques were attempted to obtain one antenna which is operational in the 2, 3, and 5 GHz bands corresponding to many wireless applications. The idea of creating different slot configurations on different parts of a single antenna is the basic principle. A prototype of the final antenna design was...
