We developed time-domain hybrid-modulation with adaptive symbolrates to optimize the reach and margin of WSS routed 400 Gb/s systems. Experimental comparisons show, that a DP-8QAM/16QAM hybrid format can outperform the benchmark DP-8QAM and DP-16QAM formats in distance when up to 18 WSS are incorporated.
Transmission of a 4-D optimized format with the same spectral efficiency as PM-QPSK was experimentally investigated. Decision directed equalizer adaptation and phase estimation enabled detection of this format and PM-QPSK and coded POLQAM as well.
A 16×112Gb/s field trial was performed at the Deutsche Telekom fiber infrastructure with partially high PMD. Using 56Gbaud NRZ-DQPSK, no penalty could be observed when co-propagating with a 10.7Gb/s NRZ. Robust Metro DWDM transmission with attractive carrier-grade margins is demonstrated.
We demonstrate transmission of 5×253-Gb/s optical OFDM-superchannels in 100-GHz spacing over 454 km field deployed fibers, achieving a capacity of 1.16 Tb/s. In addition transmission of 398.5 Gb/s in one OFDM channel over the same distance is reported.
Vestigial sideband filtering(VSB) technique is demonstrated at 42.66 Gbit/s NRZ data to achieve a high information density (ISD) of 0.8 bit/s/Hz with 50 GHz channel spacing without PDM (polarization division demultiplexing).
We present a compact and optimised multiquantum-well based, integrated all-active Michelson interferometer for 26 Gbit/s optical wavelength conversion. Bit-rate transparent operation is demonstrated with a conversion penalty well below 0.5 dB at bit-rates ranging from 622 Mbit/s to 20 Gbit/s.
