A distributed approach to perform admission control in multi-hop ad hoc networks is proposed. Existing algorithms normally compute the total amount of available resources in the network, however our method evaluates if there are sufficient resources to satisfy the bandwidth demand of a new incoming flow rather than quantifying the total amount, which is impractical when considering implementation...
The collision probability experienced by each node on a link plays an important role in estimating the available bandwidth at the Medium Access Control (MAC) layer. The available bandwidth is a crucial information to the decision made by Admission Control for QoS support in wireless networks. Most of existing Admission Control schemes proposed for wireless Ad-Hoc networks neglect the fact that collision...
This letter proposes a new approach to model the intra-flow contention problem in multi-hop networks. The model takes into consideration of neighboring interference, hidden-node collision and multi-rate scenario. It can be easily used to do admission control or to calculate the end-to-end capacity of a given multi-hop route. Simulation results validate its accuracy.
Quality of service (QoS) support in ad hoc networks relies on admission control to prevent the network from congestion. The collision rate that is experienced by each node on a link plays an important role on the decision made by admission control due to its impact on the available bandwidth estimation. However, most of the existing QoS support schemes in ad hoc networks neglected the fact that the...
