In order to evaluate our developing 3D directional borehole radar system, ReflexTracker®, we carried out experimental studies on its capability to detect foundation piles in poor subsoil in the Tokyo area, and cavities beside a housing complex in Aichi Prefecture, central Japan. To evaluate foundation pile detectability, we took omnidirectional and directional borehole radar measurements in two boreholes...
Long pulse operation of a dual frequency gyrotron for JT-60SA, which can oscillate both 110 GHz and 138 GHz waves, was started. Oscillations at ∼ 0.4 MW for 2 s (both frequencies) and 0.7 MW for 1 s (110 GHz) were obtained, so far. Temperature increase in the cavity, the output window and some components, which absorb stray radiation in the gyrotron, were measured and cavity loss power and the dielectric...
We report the room temperature enhancement of direct bandgap emission from germanium microcavities with wavelength-scale dimensions and high optical confinement. A decline in the emission enhancement with lower Qs is attributed to the Purcell effect.
