We report on the fabrication of three-dimensional icosahedral photonic quasicrystals for optical frequencies via direct laser writing. Optical diffraction patterns measured along the 5-fold axis reveal the expected 10-fold symmetry.
Using direct laser writing, we fabricate photoresist templates for 3D-2D-3D photonic crystal heterostructures. The optical properties of these structures are directly compared with scattering-matrix calculations, revealing good agreement, hence good sample quality.
