In summary, we have fabricated high-Q micropillar cavities with circular and elliptical cross section containing CdSe/ZnS quantum dots or rods in the spacer layer. We find a systematically higher Q-factor along the short axis of the elliptical pillar compared to circular ones. The spectral position of the cavity resonances have been calculated by modeling the pillar cavity as a waveguide with an effective...
The phenomenon of cooperative spontaneous emission (Dickepsilas superradiance) is investigated numerically for ensembles of strongly-confined quantum dots coupled to low-Q optical cavities. Clear signatures of superradiance are predicted for emission dynamics and photon statistics.
The evolution of individual microsphere-resonator modes into coherently coupled photon states is studied using polarization-sensitive imaging spectroscopy. Photon localization is found both due to Bloch-mode formation and size disorder in agreement with a coupled-oscillator model.
We study the coherent cavity-field coupling in ensembles of polystyrene microspheres doped with CdSe nanodots. The spatial dependence and polarization nature of coupled and uncoupled resonances are discussed for various two-dimensional geometries
