Eine neue Methode erlaubt es, die Bewegung eines ionisierten Elektrons in einem starken Infrarot‐Laserfeld in Echtzeit zu verfolgen. Notwendig dazu ist nur ein einziges Absorptionsspektrum nahe der Ionisationsschwelle, im hier vorgestellten Beispiel in Helium, aufgenommen mit einem ultrakurzen, extrem ultravioletten Lichtblitz.
Lichtblitze verschiedener Intensität können die quantenmechanische Komponente der Elektron‐Elektron‐Wechselwirkung gezielt beeinflussen. Diese kontrollierte Austauschwechselwirkung zeigt sich durch spektroskopische Messungen an Schwefelhexafluorid‐Molekülen mit ultrakurzen Laserpulsen, durchgeführt am Max‐Planck‐Institut für Kernphysik in Heidelberg.
