A simple design approach for the slow wave structure (SWS) of a Ka-band 40 W helix TWT has been developed. Two software CST MWS and in house developed SUNRAY-1D have been used to design helical slow wave structure for meeting the desired power (>40 W), gain (>45 dB) and electronic efficiency (>14%).
Helical slow wave structure (SWS) for Ku-band 140 W short length space TWT has been designed in a single section to achieve the desired saturated RF output power 140 W, gain 25 dB and electronic efficiency more than 28% over the frequency band of 10.9 to 11.7 GHz. This short-length TWT has been designed for a microwave power module (MPM). In-house developed one-dimensional large signal model (SUNRAY-1D)...
A simplified but improved approach for the design of helical SWS design has been developed. Three TWTs operated at three deferent operating band have been designed and developed by using the same approach and validated with experimental results.
