Silver-coated Teflon hollow waveguides for 0.5–1.5 THz with S/λ2 ∼10–20 are designed, fabricated and measured using a near-field THz time-domain spectroscopy system. Numerical results predict the fundamental band of the waveguide with 38/120 μm thick Teflon wall to be at ∼1.4/0.5 THz. For the waveguide with 120 μm thick inner Teflon wall, the first three bands are observed in transmission spectrum...
Mode profiles, transmission attenuation and dispersion in flexible dielectric-lined hollow metallic cylindrical waveguides are analyzed experimentally and numerically. Using dielectric coatings made of different materials and different thicknesses, we show the crossover between the fundamental TE11 and TM11 modes and the hybrid HE11 mode.
We applied THz near-field space-time mapping, continuous wave far-field imaging and numerical eigenmode calculations to determine the impact of thin dielectric coatings on the main modes in flexible cylindrical metallic waveguides for THz waves.
