We report the phase-transparent optical data exchange based on non-degenerate FWM in an HNLF via theoretical analysis and experimental verification. 40-Gbit/s NRZ-DPSK data exchange is demonstrated with a power penalty (at 10-9) ~ 4.5 dB.
A simple configuration is proposed and experimentally demonstrated to generate ultra-wideband (UWB) monocycle pulses based on a turbo-switch structure which consists of two reflective semiconductor optical amplifiers (RSOAs). The first RSOA generates an inversed pulse train of the injected signal through the cross-gain modulation, while the second RSOA introduces an overshoot. The overshoot can be...
We report first experimental demonstration on the non-transparent characteristic of FWM using NRZDPSK, RZ-DPSK, CSRZ-DPSK, and CSRZ signals. One potential non-transparency application of 40 Gbit/s CSRZ-to-RZ format conversion is experimentally demonstrated.
We report the first experimental demonstration on 40 Gbit/s all-optical format conversions from NRZ to CSRZ, from NRZ to RZ, and from NRZ-DPSK to RZ-DPSK by using a periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) waveguide.
