By exploiting the in-house finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) program, the optical properties of a designated 2-D array of U- to H-shaped holes perforated on a metallic film are analyzed. Some specific near-field features are found to be associated with the three mechanisms underlying the transmission spectral profiles, namely, excitation of surface electromagnetic (EM) modes, Wood's anomalies (WAs),...
Metal/dielectric/metal cavity thermal emitters with hole array at top metal film arranged in short period exhibit high output intensities, narrow bandwidth cavity modes in the mid-infrared region. Short period hole arrays filter out redundant surface plasmons and coupling cavity modes by moving them to the wavebands where blackbody radiations are weak.
Both (1,0) and (1,1) Ag/SiO2 emission peaks generated by the tri-layer Ag/SiO2/Ag plasmonic thermal emitter with square lattice are investigated. The measured results reveal that the emission intensities of the (1,0) and (1,1) Ag/SiO2 plasmon modes depend sensitively on the energy distribution of a gray-body emitter.
The emission peaks and their intensity distributions of plasmonic thermal emitters with top metal perforated by hole array arranged in rhombus lattice had been investigated theoretically and experimentally. The intensity distribution of emission peaks follows blackboday radiation but becomes weaker if the coupling of the neighboring two peaks occurs.
Enhanced optical transmission through an Al film with perforated short-range 3times3, 4times4 and 5times5 hole arrays arranged in a long-range periodic structure is investigated. This three finite squared holes array constitutes an individual micro-cell, respectively. The measured transmission peak wavelength reveals that the surface plasmons are Fabry-Perot type resonance to different integer order...
