We report on generation of strong-field-ionization induced free-space air lasers and explore their applications in remote sensing and molecular physics.
We experimentally investigate gain dynamics and temporal characteristics of a free-space nitrogen laser pumped by circularly-polarized femtosecond laser pulses based on the pump-probe scheme.
The effects of gestational age and dose of nickel exposure on regulating and influencing placental transfer were investigated. Pregnant rats on gestational day (GD) 12, 15 or 20 were injected intraperitoneally with saline, 64, 320 or 640kBq/kg body weight of 63 Ni. Twenty-four hours after administration, samples were harvested from each for measurement of radioactivity by liquid scintillation...
Detailed knowledge of magnetization reversal and possible magnetic configurations in magnetic nanostructures is essential for high-density magnetic memory. Magnetism of nanostructured magnets, of size comparable to or smaller than ferromagnetic domain size, offers a great potential for new physics. We present results of a systematic study of magnetic reversal in sub-100 nm nanodots, and how this reversal...
The formation of a parallel magnetic domain wall in the ferromagnetic (FM) Fe layer in Fe/FeF2 systems and antiferromagnetic (AF) FeF2 and MnF2 in Ni/FeF2 and Co/MnF2 bilayers as well as the magnetization reversal of uncompensated Fe interfacial moments in positively and negatively biased Ni/FeF2 was studied. Combining X-ray magnetic circular (XMCD) and linear dichroism (XMLD) measurements allows...
This papers present a novel phenomenon in FM/AF heterostructure systems (AF = FeF2, FM= (Ni,Co)), where the FM switching can be also controlled by thermal cycling. It was found that a FM saturated above the AF Neel temperature TN, spontaneously reverses its magnetization against a constant field with decreasing temperature. This reversal also exhibits a significant magnetization vs. temperature hysteresis,...
The growth of Ni films deposited on a reconstructed (√2x2√2)R45 o O/Cu(001) is examined. It is shown that deposition of Ni changes the surface symmetry to c(2x2) and that oxygen always floats on the film surface. No NiO is formed. Surface roughness decreases and the growth mode is closer to ideal layer-by-layer, as compared to that of Ni/Cu(001) indicating a surfactant activity of oxygen....
The order-disorder transition of the p(2 2) phase of oxygen chemisorbed on Ni(111) has been studied using low-energy electron diffraction (LEED). The transition was found to be continuous, and the measured critical exponents are consistent with those predicted for the 4-state Potts model. These results agree with the theoretical predictions for this overlayer based on symmetry considerations, but...
