Stable octave-spanning supercontinuum (SC) in the mid-infrared (MIR) region finds extensive applications in spectroscopy, metrology, biochemistry, etc. The absorption of conventional silicon- or silicon oxide-dominated nonlinear media makes SC generation in MIR region technically challenging. In this paper, we propose ultrabroadband MIR-SC generation using a suspended germanium-membrane ridge waveguide...
We propose and numerically investigate mid-infrared supercontinuum generation in dispersion-engineered Al0.18Ga0.82As-based strip waveguides. An ultra-board supercontinuum ranging from 2 to 15.9 µm is obtained when pump pulses with center wavelength of 4.1 µm and peak power of 3.35 kW are used.
An experimental investigation on noise performances of supercontinua generated in normal and anomalous dispersion fibers is carried out. The supercontinuum in the normal dispersion fiber has lower real time amplitude noise and timing jitter.
